Biyoshi

Owner & Founder

A perfect haircut for me is when everything falls into place, but for my clients, a perfect haircut is what makes them happy. A great hairstyle can give a person a lot of confidence. The way you look every day, that’s going to determine how you feel, and we want clients to feel comfortable and happy with their haircuts. If we can do that and give them a great experience at Biyoshi, then I’ve done my job.
— Biyoshi

With more than 35 years of cutting and styling experience, Biyoshi is the owner, operator and creative force behind the original Biyoshi salon. After training at Vidal Sassoon in Beverly Hills, he worked as part of the salon's artistic team, manifesting his passion for beauty and design and an innovative approach to hair both in the salon and at professional hair shows.

In 1982, he opened his own salon on Huntington Drive in Alhambra, CA. He named it Biyoshi — a Japanese word meaning "hair stylist," and soon adopted the name himself. Since then, Biyoshi has built a reputation for excellence — enhancing his training and skills with a creative vision and a dedication to customer experience that he has passed on to his team of stylists. Specializing in modern haircuts and classical barbering, he caters to women and men of all ages, with a clientele that reflects multiple generations and decades of loyalty.

Dori Dea

I work hard and believe in taking care of my clients to the fullest. We build a relationship, and the loyalty goes both ways. I’m just as loyal to them as they are to me.
— Dori

Dori has been a member of the Biyoshi team since 1988. She became interested in hair styling at the age of 16, practicing on friends and family before eventually training at Vidal Sassoon Academy. Dori has multiple talents — specializing in cuts, color and highlights, perms and styles. She prides herself on precision and always makes time to accomodate clients—often coming in early and leaving late to meet their needs.

Rachel Flores

I’m really passionate about color. When clients are happy and love their color, that’s what makes me happy.
— Rachel

Rachel started her styling career in 1988, training under Biyoshi at his salon. Since then, she's become Biyoshi's resident color queen, speicializing in everything from highlights and ombré styles to funky hues and color correction. She also does chemical treatments, including straightening and perms, and formal styles and up-dos.

Christina Carrasco

I love when clients can see their hair all finished, beautiful and blow-dried. They walk out feeling glamorous.
— Christina

Christina first started at Biyoshi nearly 30 years ago and has been back at salon for the past five years. With 28 years of experience, she's seen some of her clients grow up, get married, and bring in kids of their own. While she's well-versed in color and highlights, she's particularly passionate about up-dos, curls, and blow-drying—anything that puts that finishing touch on an already stellar style.

Sharon Doi

When clients leave the salon, I want them to feel like they’ve been pampered and energized. I try to make a little bit of difference in their lives just by doing their hair and touching their hearts.
— Sharon

One of Biyoshi's original stylists, Sharon has been with the salon since 1983. After training at International School of Cosmetology in Culver City, she found her knack in haircuts, color, styles, and perms. For Sharon, the secret to the perfect hairstyle is highly personal—and that goes beyond cuts and colors.
